NFL Preseason Betting: Daunte Culpepper Powers Raiders

If you want to place a bet on comeback player of the year, Daunte Culpepper is making a case for his early candidacy as favorite.
Culpepper was excellent in the first half as he continues to pull away from Andrew Walter and Josh McCown in the Oakland quarterback battle, which doesn’t feature JaMarcus Russell, the holdout No. 1 overall draft pick. The Raiders beat the St. Louis Rams, 20-10, in Oakland on Friday night as Week 3 in the NFL preseason continued.
The Raiders beat the point spread, which had favored St. Louis by 1.5, and the betting total was under 38.
Culpepper, making his first start of the preseason, was 4-for-8 for 47 yards and hit Ronald Curry for a 19-yard touchdown in the second quarter. The former Dolphin and Viking quarterback also rushed three times for 17 yards in front of a boisterous home crowd.
The Rams didn’t use stars Steven Jackson and Torry Holt much in the game, accounting for the loss.
